Founder, Lucy Parker Watkins, has written a variety of health and lifestyle articles, spiritual essays, and newsletters over the years. Besides being one the Co-Founders of VegetarianTeen.com, she was the Activism and Interviews Editor for the international magazine, Vegetarian Baby and Child, eventually becoming the site manager for the online version of the magazine. This work soon parlayed into another position as the original VegBuzz Columnist for VegNews Magazine.

Shortly after she began her writing career, Watkins found herself on the opposite side of the desk creating editorial calendars while working with well over 200 writers. Her experience as a writer gave her insight into how to handle the often daunting task of editing the work of writers she had admired for years. Watkins soon discovered even the greatest writers have moments of insecurity, writer’s block, and a variety of frustrations when dealing with content structure, research, finding interview subjects, and dealing with editors who frequently concern themselves with word count rather than creative content.

As she progressed in her career, Watkins discovered there was a need within her local community for inexpensive, small business marketing. She began filling the need by writing press releases, creating fliers and coupons for publication, and customizing media contact lists. In doing so, she was able to increase business for the local merchants with whom she worked. Additionally, many of her clients received media exposure. Her work resulted in several newspaper articles and TV news stories focusing on the business owners and local events.

With this in mind, Watkins decided to create Affinity Editing Services in the hopes of providing writers and small business owners the opportunity to spread their messages, feel support and encouragement, and to find their niche where their voices can be most effective.
